A week can be very long time. On Saturday 5th September I received a new entry on my guest book from Liana Vilcins. Liana explained that she had a visitor from Latvia that hopes to be related to the Cudars family. I excitedly emailed the elders of the family to let know of the discovery.

Tante Annelie made contact and arranged to meet with Liana, her husband Valdis, his cousin Aija from Latvia and our new relative Inara Atteka. Inara’s relationship to our family was confirmed and expressed her interest to visit her grandfathers brothers son, Jazeps in Orange. On Wednesday Inara traveled to Orange. We enjoyed a great lunch and spent the afternoon looking at photos, talking (lucky we had some good interpreters) and laughing. It was great to watch Inara and Jazeps talk in Latvian enjoy each others company. Five days after Inara made contact with us she had meet half the Australian Cudars clan and has opened life long communications between Australia and the mother land.
